UBS Signs Formula 1 Sponsorship Deal

Formula One has recently confirmed it has found a new financial partner. According to the latest statement coming from the FOM, major financial services company UBS has become global partner for Formula One, with a formal announcement to be made during this year's Singapore Grand Prix, scheduled between September 24 – 26.

As UBS are planning to extend their reach globally, as well as aim for brand awareness, Formula One was considered the best choice for a future partner. The calendar of the Great Circus is currently comprised of 18 countries (on 4 continents), while its global television audience in 2009 (for example) was more than 520 million people worldwide.

Additionally, F1 coverage is present 8 months per year, and Bernie Ecclestone's future plans for the series include race opportunities in Asia, Middle East and Latin America, markets targeted also by the UBS.

UBS has been searching for a global sponsorship platform that has appeal to our clients, promotes our brand globally and makes good commercial sense,” said Oswald Grübel, UBS Group Chief Executive.

Our new partnership with one of the largest and most popular sporting organizations in the world will fulfil all these criteria, and it constitutes a key element of our newly launched branding activities. The global reach of F1 complements the many local activities we support,” added Grübel.

UBS is a global company where performance, teamwork and superior execution are integral to their clients’ success. These values complement those of Formula 1 and I’m delighted to welcome UBS to Formula 1,” added the head of Formula One Management (FOM), commercial rights owner of F1, Bernie Ecclestone.
