Since the giant San Francisco, California-based company is getting millions of dollars in financing by the day, it seems Uber is slowly changing its profile from transport company to “we can do whatever” company. Since they already deliver kittens in Brisbane, Australia, opening a food delivery service in Barcelona is not even surprising anymore. And that’s exactly what the giant just did.
What, you haven’t heard about $UberKITTENS on demand? Then, you’re probably far from the Aussie lifestyle, because this service is quite popular already in Brisbane. Or at least it was two weeks ago, on February 5th, when Uber announced it. “Today is possibly the cutest day in Uber history! Across Australia, we have partnered with local animal shelters to deliver #UberKITTENS on demand!”
Hey, whatever makes the customer happy, right? Happy and most of all Uber’s customer. Since we don’t really have time to spoil, no way are we searching for other bizarre services the taxi company recently added to their portfolio.
No. We’re lying. There’s one thing we do want to talk about and it’s called UberEATS. The company just announced the unveiling of the food delivery service in Barcelona. They claim it will allow customers to get “the best meals from the best local restaurants” in under 10 minutes. But hold your horses, we’re not really looking at a premiere. It’s odd, but not a first.
According to Uber’s blog post, this service was previously launched as UberFRESH in Los Angeles, yet this is the first launch outside the US. The giant partnered up with Plateselector, the city’s allegedly best food guide and promises to offer the best food in town. This also includes organic food and other local restaurants renown for their quality dishes.
All good so far, but we still don’t see the connection between “transport company” and “food delivery”.
