Two 2017 Ford GTs and Hundreds of Corvettes Make for a Great Video

The videos we usually see on Vehicle Virgins aren't worth writing home about. But this one is, even though it's completely random.
While in Dearborn, the home of Ford, the guys shot a lot of Chevrolets. And we're not talking a couple of V6 Camaros and a Corvette. No, think more regular C7s than you can count and a hangar full of Z06 models waiting for their owners, probably around 50. There are even a few rare ones in there, plus a pink Cadillac and a 2.0T pony that we'll let you discover.

As everybody knows, Ford is working on an entirely new supercar. Even though the 2017 Ford GT has been revealed officially, it's still undergoing road testing, as several prototypes have been seen on the road. At night, they come to rest in an enclosed facility, where Vehicle Virgins managed to spot them together.

So far, Ford has said only that the EcoBoost V6 mounted at the center of the machine will deliver over 600 hp. However, the GT is available to "drive" in Forza Motorsport 6, where it puts out 630 hp and 539 lb-ft (731 Nm). It would be a shame if after all this work it were slower than the Ferrari 488 GTB, right?

Anyway, the 2017 Ford GT is all about something that's not easily explained in a story. The 1,500 horsepower output of the latest Bugatti sounds a lot more exciting than lightweight construction. But the GT features carbon fiber construction, just like the Alfa Romeo 4C. Some of the technology they are making here will come to the mass market in a few years, like the composite springs.

If that's not what impresses you, then, at least, take a few moments to admire those flying buttresses. The vehicle is really narrow at the cabin. Another reason they chose a V6 is that it allows the body to be narrow and low. Unlike the guys at Acura, Ford skipped the battery and electric motor to keep the GT as light as possible. Sure, the company needs to develop better EVs, but we can't kid ourselves that LFA trickled down to the Corolla. It's certainly more beautiful than the Jaguar XJ220, but let's just hope it proves less controversial and more successful.
