The good folks over at the racing-focused ImportRace channel on YouTube are not at their usual venue - Island Dragway in Great Meadows, New Jersey, and instead, they are hunting for more great events elsewhere.
This videographer has been extremely prolific in 2024 – swinging back and forth between his home base at Island Dragway and some of the greatest events out there like the Street Car Takedown, TX2K's 2024 edition, and now also the Pocono Raceway 65 Roll Race gathering prepared by RaceMotive.

Pocono is also known as 'The Tricky Triangle' and is a superspeedway nestled in the Pocono Mountains in Long Pond, Pennsylvania. Its annual moment of glory usually comes in July when it hosts three NASCAR National Series races and an ARCA Menards Series event. However, that doesn't mean it lies dormant the rest of the time.

For example, RaceMotive hosts an entire season's worth of events at Pocono Raceway, mostly in the MPH Exhibition Open Run format. However, the 1/3-mile (1,760 feet) roll-racing series kicked off with a big, two-day inaugural event in an SxS Shootout format on May 4 and 5. As it turns out, ImportRace quickly extracted at least one hero from the event.

In the video embedded below, their Blue Oval knight is an 870-hp, tuned S550 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 that roll-raced against everything and everyone. Its first opponent should also have been the mightiest, for sure: an "undisputed king of horsepower," a Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat unleashing an alleged 1,050 horsepower, which should have made it capable of "a tire-shredding performance with its mind-blowing modifications."

Alas, we keep telling everyone – including ourselves – always to expect the unexpected at the racetrack. As such, the lower-powered Shelby GT500 not only severely rolled its Mopar opponent but instead, it absolutely demolished it with the 159 mph versus 124 mph performance! Now that we got the Blue Oval into the proper muscle car perspective, it was time for some keen "European engineering" to try and do a better job.

Well, according to the description, the BMW M3 boasted some 700 horsepower, and indeed, it managed to impress with the narrow 155 versus 162 mph loss. Next up came the 'wildcard.' It's a grey Toyota GR Corolla hot hatchback, but the AWD and little turbo engine were no match for the American monster – 162 mph versus 113 mph is clearly a massive difference. Anyway, it wasn't the most shameful representation. Instead, the Hellcat remained the most displeasing apparition as even an orange Ford Mustang GT hit a higher trap speed (127 mph versus 162 mph) when it faced off with the mind-bending Shelby.

So, what do you think? Was the Mopar representative that bad, or maybe it had mechanical trouble, or simply wasn't the promised 1,050-hp wonder as showcased in the description?
