When it comes down to meticulously crafted bespoke two-wheelers, the experts over at Switzerland’s Renegade Customs are no amateurs. While the workshop's portfolio is mostly oriented towards choppers, the project we’ll be looking at today is quite different. To be a little more specific, the exploit in question is based around a 2011 model from Triumph’s beloved Speed Triple range. Let’s take a second to examine what’s at hand here, shall we?
The donor bike for this project is powered by a liquid-cooled DOHC inline-three mill that boasts twelve valves and a gargantuan displacement of 1,050cc. This bad boy is perfectly capable of summoning up to 128 ponies at approximately 9,250 rpm, while a brutal torque output of 82 pound-feet (111 Nm) will be produced at 7,500 rpm.
A six-speed transmission is tasked with distributing the engine’s force to the rear forged alloy wheel by means of a chain final drive, leading to a generous top speed of 141 mph (227 kph). Needless to say, Triumph’s Speed Triple is a showstopper in the truest sense of the word, even in base form.
To kick things off, the folks over at Renegade disposed of the bike’s standard twin headlight setup to make way for a retro-style alternative. Next, they went about removing the side panels and fenders, while the stock mirrors and gauges have been discarded to make room for custom counterparts.
After replacing the factory turn signals with aftermarket LED items, the following step consisted of equipping a heat-wrapped SC Project exhaust system that allows the inline-three to breathe with ease. At the other end of the combustion cycle, you’ll find a set of K&N pod filters rounding out the powertrain upgrades.
Last but not least, the original fuel tank was sanded to obtain a raw alloy finish, which is tastefully complemented by an assortment of classy leather straps. All things considered, we can probably all agree that Renegade’s one-off Speed Triple is one fascinating piece of machinery!
