If you’re in for a special edition of Triumph’s flagship adventure machine, now it’s the best time to call your local dealer and hope that at least one unit of the all-new SE version Tiger Explorer will be imported in your country. That is, because the 2015 Triumph Tiger Explorer XC SE will only be available in a very limited run of 50 units, and the very good price the deal comes with is surely going to help these bikes sell like hot cakes. Adventure hot cakes even!
We don’t have any news on whether the 2015 Tiger Explorer XC SE will make it past the borders of the UK or it is a treat for British riders only, meant to frustrate others. We only know that the bike will be available from April 2015 in “select dealerships”, so until further notice your best bet is calling your dealer.

For the UK market, Triumph offers the base version of the Tiger Explorer XC with a price tag reading £12,499 on the road (OTR), while the Special Edition will arrive with an £13,999 price. At today’s exchange rates, this makes for $19,218 or €16,835 for the stock trim and $21,525 or €18,855 for the SE. Please bear in mind, that bikes tend to be more expensive in the UK than in other markets in Europe and North America.

The SE brings a lot of extras for the extra money

If the difference seems not exactly negligible, you should also know that the bikes are loaded with a lot of extra parts which are well worth the extra dough. For starters, the 2015 Tiger Explorer XC SE is a bike which pays tribute to the machine used by the Globebusters in their expeditions, and will be delivered in Matte Black or Blazing Orange.

The SE will sport a taller windscreen for better protection, a special headlight protector, and a radiator guard. The rider foot pegs are also aftermarket and are CNC machined. Triumph throws in the deal even more extras, such as satellite navigation and a mount for it, pre-installed and ready for use, a tank pad, engine guards and a free set of all-time favorite Continental TKC80 tires. However, the icing on the cake is the pannier system and a free roll bag, adding premium luggage storage for the Tiger Explorer XC, a most valuable attribute when it comes to traveling.

On the tech side, the 2015 Tiger Explorer XC SE packs the same grunt as the stock bike, with the 1215cc in-line triple delivering a peak power of 137 hp @9,300 rpm, and a maximum torque of 121 Nm (89.2 lb-ft) at 6,400 revs. The 6-speed transmission operates a most convenient shaft final drive, but we sort of hoped that the 20-liter (5.3 US gal) tank would be resized.

Anyway, this might be your chance to make a very neat deal, so now that you’ve finished reading this, kook up the Triumph dealer phone number and try to claw one of the 50 2015 Tiger Explorer XC SEs out there.
