Toyota Prius Coupe Coming in 2014

Toyota is set to release a new seven-seater Prius Plus into UK showrooms next year, but aside the awaited event the manufacturer plans to launch three all new models among them being a stunning coupe, in the next three years, as it intends to develop Prius into a independent brand. This daring plan includes seeing hybrids sold trough specific dealers by 2014.

Which is also the same date for the arrival of the next Prius saloon. Features such blade-like headlamps and distinctive LED running lights seen on the actual car are long forgotten when we are referring to the new Prius. The new Prius C has a bold and axed down like exterior design giving this way the Prius C a more conservative look.

The main concept will remain unchanged though, giving the success that the model had, providing a new opportunity for Toyota to enter new market segments which are dominated by Honda’s Insight and CR-Z. The new C- model will be by far the most efficient model giving it compact dimensions and 1.5-liter petrol engine aided by an electric motor. The car is expected to deliver economy in excess of 80mpg, as related by autoexpress.co.uk

Also the big surprise comes from a new Sports Coupe which is based on a rear-drive platform taken from the next Lexus GS Model. As the “trend goes” it will be fitted with a plug-in hybrid set-up featuring lithium-ion batteries. Also set for debut in 2014 is a Prius SUV, which has been rumored to be launched since 2007.
