Toyota Prius v Full Details Released

Coming to the market to expand the Prius line and turn it into an entire family of hybrids, Toyota's v version of the Prius was fully revealed on Monday by the Japanese automaker who, despite the problems with the supply chain back home, still plans to keep to the launch schedule.

Intended to conquer the minds of the decision makers in young active families, the Prius v uses the same Hybrid Synergy Drive system used on the current Prius. That is a series-parallel hybrid that uses an Atkinson cycle 98 horsepower1.8l four-cylinder engine paired to two high-output motors. The model's estimated EPA rating is 44 mpg city, 40 mpg highway and 42 mpg combined.

Mechanically, the Prius v comes with a few more options than the current Prius. It features four driving modes (standard, Eco, EV and Power) and Pitch and Bounce Control for on-the-go suspension tweaks.

Being intended for families, the new Prius is a bit bigger than its older brother (this being perhaps the single novelty Toyota is bringing to the market with the v version; that and the use of an easy cleaning seat material called SofTex). Under the hatch hides 34.3 cubic feet of cargo space, achievable through the use of the sliding second row seats and a wide range of storage spaces (dual glove boxes, a center console utility tray and five cup holders in large and medium sizes).

Hoping to bring to the brand young as well as families, the Prius v is packed with all sorts of systems and features meant to catch your eye: JBL GreenEdge audio system, Entune, HDD Navigation system and the now must-have USB ports.

For now, the Prius v is scheduled for launch on the US market later this fall.
