Toyota Motor Corp. managed to sell some 900,000 of its vehicles in China last year alone. Now, according to Executive VP, Atsushi Niimi, who recently spoke at an automotive conference in the city of Chengdu, the Japanese giant’s main goal now is to double that sales figure by 2015.
However, their expectations are realistic, and so, this year, they only plan to add another 100,000 to last year’s figure, putting the expected grand total at 1 million. Niimi’s claims come after Toyota registered two consecutive months of falling sales in China, yet they still plan to sell about 12% of their global production in the PRC.

The company plans to increase the percentage to 15% by 2015, which roughly equates to about 1.8 million units which they should sell by then. If the Chinese market maintains the same ascending trend until 2015, then we don’t really have doubts that Toyota will reach their target.
