Despite Toyota saying that they would not be bringing the all-electric iQ EV to China, a recent post on carnewschina.com comes to contradict that statement.
The manufacturer’s official plan was to build a total of 600 units, 400 of which would have stayed in Japan, 100 would have gone to the US, and the remaining 100 would have been shipped to Europe.

However, this may mean that Toyota may not have been completely honest with its production schedule, which also slated production to begin in August 2012, yet here we have a registered iQ EV, in China, driving on the road.

With a range of 80 km (50 miles), the iQ EV would have been a great city companion for those who don’t really travel that far in their cars (most city-dwellers) and it definitely makes sense in China as much, if not more, than it does in Europe or the US.
