Toyota Motor Corporation has announced to expand the “Ha:mo” optimized urban transport system currently operating in Toyota City, Aichi Prefecture, since October 2012.
Ha:mo is an urban transport system which is used to complete the public transport with small electric vehicles that can be shared among users for short trips around town.

One of the most important system expansion will be represented by the number increase of ride-sharing vehicles and their stations. 45 additional Toyota Auto Body-produced “COMS” car-sharing electric vehicles will join the current fleet of 10 on October 1st and then will be increased to 100 by the middle of the month. The number of vehicle stations where users can rent and return vehicles will also be increased on stages, reaching 21 locations by mid-October.

In order to check the effectiveness and commercial feasibility of the vehicle-sharing system, a use-based fee will be introduced, starting from 200 yen for the first 10 minutes of use and continuing with 20 yen for each additional minute.
