The Toyota Century SUV is no longer a rumor, as the Japanese automaker has confirmed its arrival. In fact, rumors of its introduction date back to the beginning of the year, and the vehicle is only a few hours from being officially presented.
Due September 6 at 12:30 AM EST (6:30 AM CET), with the event being live-streamed over the web, the 2024 Toyota Century SUV has now been teased again. The latest image published by the car manufacturer on its official local website partially reveals the front end.

The vehicle has a double headlamp signature with incorporated DRLs flanking the large grille, which is decorated by the Phoenix badge. The logo pretty much confirms that it will be marketed as the Century, as it also bedecks the face of the luxury sedan that targets the jet set in the Land of the Rising Sun with premium amenities, a boxy design, and all the gear required from a high-end premium machine.

A previous teaser released a few days ago puts the spotlight on the rear three-quarter design, showing a chauffeur holding the door handle. The car has boxy proportions, what appears to be a pinstripe, and the usual chrome trim. The taillights are reminiscent of the front clusters, featuring a similar split design. Overall, the Century SUV (name unconfirmed) looks kind of like a Rolls-Royce Cullinan, but as you can already tell, you won't exactly confuse it for one.

Details surrounding the underpinnings are unknown, but it has been reported that it could use the TNGA-K as the foundation stone. If correct, then it would share many components with models such as the Camry, Highlander, RAV4, Sienna, Lexus NX, RX, LM, ES, and others. Its sedan counterpart is only available with V8 engines, and certain rumors claim the Century SUV might actually make do with a plug-in hybrid assembly sourced from Lexus. This would make it futureproof, as it would fall in line with the brand's electrification game.

It is yet unknown whether the Century SUV will be marketed in Japan solely, just like the luxury sedan, but we think it might make its way to other markets, considering that Toyota teased it on its global press website last week. We wouldn't hold our breath for a possible US launch, but we certainly wouldn't rule it out either. Chances are it will make its way to most Western markets, where it will obviously take a swing at the Rolls-Royce Cullinan and Bentley Bentayga. Let's hope it will be priced much lower than its direct rivals, as those are some very sought-after badges that dwarf the Toyota logo. And most people would rather drive a Bentley or a Rolls than a Toyota, no matter how good it is.
