Toyota Motor Corporation announced that the Sichuan FAW Toyota Motor (SFTM) joint venture in China will start producing the 2.7-liter Land Cruiser Prado at the Chengdu plant in 2015.
The new model will join the 4-liter version which is currently being produced there and it will increase the production from 30.000 to 50.000 aided by the approximately 500 new employees following to be hired.
“Toyota has always been able to rely on the SFTM Chengdu Plant, our first automobile production site in China, as a key base for our business here. Going forward, we will continue to build cars that meet the needs of Chinese consumers.” said SFTM president Akio Kato at the groundbreaking ceremony.
