Live in Australia and you have about AU$70,000 to buy a neat sport sedan? Forget about BMW and Mercedes, the new Lexus IS 350 is the hottest one at the moment.
The top range Lexus IS 350 is the most powerful one you can get, sheltering a 3.5-liter V6 under its bonnet, which boasts 316 hp (233 kW) and 375 Nm (277 lb-ft) of torque. The power surge rushes through an 8-speed Direct-Shift automatic transmission to the rear wheels, thrusting the sleek sedan from a standstill to 100km/h (62 mph) in 5.9 seconds, on its way to reach a top speed of 230 km/h (143 mph). And the IS 350 does all this with an average 9.7 l/100 km (24 mpg).
For the entry level IS 350 you will have to chop your bank account with AU$65,000 and for the money, you will get the same amount of features as on the IS 250. If more is needed, you can add AU$8,000 more and get the F Sport package which will spoil you with adaptive sport suspension, auto dimming mirror, slightly restyled body panels, 18-inch alloy wheels, LFA-inspired gauge cluster, aluminum pedals and more. If that is not enough, with AU$11,000 more you get the Sports Luxury pack which adds a 15-speaker Mark Levinson premium audio system, lane departure warning, active cruise control and auto high beam headlights.
