TomTom Prepares Entry-Level EASE in North America

Navigation solution provider TomTom announced today it will debut the new entry-level car navigation solution in North America. Called EASE, the new nav system is meant to be as simple, cheap and, why not, good as it can be.

"The TomTom EASE combines quality, simplicity and style into one compact device,” Jocelyn Vigreux, president of TomTom said. “It’s an obvious choice for drivers who want an affordable, easy to use portable navigation device with the most innovative map and routing technologies available.

EASE comes with a sleek design, with integrated EasyPort mount and has become the most compact device in TomTom's lineup. Available in two colors, black and white, EASE features improved EasyMenu user interface with two-icon touchscreen menu for quick access to search tools.

EASE packs IQ Routes Technology (with a database of over 1.3 trillion speed measurements worldwide), TomTom Map Share (technology that allows users to make their own map changes and benefit from thousands of free map corrections made by TomTom users) and Tele Atlas (maps which cover some 6.5 million miles of roadways in the US and 3 million standard and premium points of interest).

Below are the technical specifications of the EASE:
  • dimensions: (H x W x D) 3.4” x 3.6”x 1.2” (including mount)
  • weight: 6.1 oz. (including mount)
  • touch screen: 3.5” LCD (320 x 240 pixels, supports 64K colors)
  • memory: 2 Gb Flash

EASE will be available in North America by spring. Prices for the system have not yet been announced.
