TomTom GPS Navigation is one of the apps that are supposed to serve as alternatives to Google Maps and Waze on Android devices, and this isn’t necessarily a surprise.
TomTom is one of the companies that have long been involved in the navigation industry, so its mobile app is supposed to provide a truly advanced experience.

An update released recently for the TomTom GPS Navigation app, however, comes with both good news and bad news.

Currently at version 2.1.1, the app now comes with a series of undisclosed bug fixes, and according to long-time users who rushed to install the latest updates, some of the problems that they previously came across are no longer there.

But the bad news is that while this update resolves a number of issues, it also introduces others, including occasional crashes that happen all of a sudden.

Some of those who turned to the Google Play Store to complain about the experience after the latest update also reveal that the button to save a current route has disappeared all of a sudden.

Older version of the app worked well, but the May 2020 update seems to be Beta quality at best. The ‘improvements’ have made it sluggish and prone to random crashes. Worst of all, my custom work POIs no longer sync with MyDrive, which renders it basically useless to me. Arrival time is using the wrong time zone or daylight savings time, so short journeys can end in the past. There doesn't seem to be a setting for this,” someone says in an app review.

Needless to say, all these problems can’t be good news, especially because TomTom comes with a subscription on mobile devices, so some of those who expect only the smoothest possible experience might no longer be willing to pay after struggling with all these glitches in the app.
