Timo Glock Moves from Cologne Home, Further from Toyota Headquarters

German driver Timo Glock has reportedly moved from his home located west of Cologne's suburbs to a new house, two hours away from Frankfurt. The news was reported by the locally-based Express newspaper, who claims the main reason for Glock's decision was because he wanted to be closer to his girlfriend Isabell.

It appears his stay at Junkersdorf – his now former home – did not suit the German driver too much, despite the fact that it was located only 5 minutes away from Toyota's Formula One headquarters.

As revealed by the Express newspaper, Glock insisted that his busy schedule did not give him the opportunity to make the most of the proximity to the team anyway. As logical as his move might seem – from a personal point of view, at least – his changing homes after only a few months could raise some questions.

First, it is a well known fact that both Mercedes and BMW Sauber are looking for a talented German driver to sign for the 2010 season. From the two teams, only the Stuttgart based marque was reportedly interested in signing the 27-year old, as surfaced in the German media during the course of last week. Glock did not take long to dismiss all rumors regarding a potential switch to McLaren.

Also, another explanation for Glock's departure from Cologne might be related to the Japanese manufacturer's potential quit from the sport at the end of this season. Toyota have made it very clear that they expect at least once race win in 2009, or else they will revise their F1 programme for the future.

After an encouraging first few races of the season, Toyota have slowly lost momentum in Formula One. Since the start of the European rounds of the 2009 schedule – meaning the last 5 races – Toyota have only scored 8 points in the constructors' standings.
