One of the biggest drawbacks of electric cars is the limited mileage, as everything depends on how much juice is left in the batteries.
And despite being awesome cars, Tesla suffer from pretty much the same problem, albeit this is something that’s being addressed with every new generation, as new models typically bring improved range.

YouTuber ItsYeBoi, however, has come up with an idea that sounds ridiculous to some, but which still does its job very well: what if you can create a solar-powered trailer that you can attach to your car and charge the Tesla wherever you go? This would technically guarantee unlimited and uninterrupted power, so on paper, everything certainly sounds great.

In reality, the solar trailer looks horrible, but as the YouTube himself explains, it still does its job very well, powering the Model 3 on the go, while also providing extra juice for some other devices, including mobile devices.

Needless to say, this isn’t necessarily an affordable idea, as the whole thing ended up costing some $2,500.

The system is connected to the battery “so we can take the power from the battery, convert it into power than we can then put it into the Tesla,” as the YouTuber explains in a pretty simple summary of the whole thing.

Solar panel goes to control panel, control panel goes to the battery, battery goes to the inverter, inverter goes to the Tesla, I drive,” he continues.

By the looks of things, this strange idea works pretty well, and there’s basically no reason not to. Of course, there are other ways to make the whole thing look better, such as putting the solar panels on a trailer in more appealing design, but as long as it does its job, there’s a chance many people would not even care about the looks.

You can check out the whole project in the video embedded below and if you want to do something similar, most of the components have been purchased from sites like Wish, apparently.
