The 2018 Porsche 911 GT2 RS might be the headline grabber after the Rennsport Neunelfer set a Nurburgring production car lap record, but we mustn't forget that Zuffenhausen has also introduced another 911 derivative this summer. We're talking about the 911 Turbo S Exclusive Series.
Designed as a rolling showcase of Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur, the German automotive producer's personalization arm, the Exclusive Series introduced a screaming color, namely Golden Yellow Metallic, along with what we called new-age cookie cutter wheels. Oh, and let's not forget the 27 hp bump for the twin-turbo 3.8-liter flat-six.

Well, the said shade of yellow has now been spotted on a 991.2 Carrera 4 GTS Cabriolet - pixel tip to the PTSRS Facebook page for this image. So what's the story behind this... color transfer? After all, last time we checked, the hue was only offered on the limited edition Neunelfer.

As it turns out, this GTS Cabriolet is a manufacturer vehicle that gets driven by a Porsche employee, but the color has reportedly been confirmed by a dealer.

The most likely version is that we're looking at what must've been a test vehicle for the shade used on the 911 Turbo S Exclusive Series.

Of course, there will be 911 buyers out there who hope this isn't the one-off described above. Frankly, if we met a Porsche 911 customer willing to cover his rear-engined machine in Golden Yellow Metallic, we couldn't hold this against him or her, despite the fact that this wouldn't be our color of choice.

On another 991.2 topic, we'll remind you that there's one 911 derivative that has yet to be touched by the mid-cycle revamp. We're referring to the 911 GT3 RS, a track-savvy animal we recently spied.

However, you shouldn't expect the Gen 2 Rennsport 911 to show up until next year, with the prototypes currently mixing the front fascia of the 2018 GT3 with the rear end of the 991.1 GT3 RS.
