The beauty of tiny homes on wheels is that you can craft them any way you want to. And while some people enjoy doing this themselves, it's a complicated, time-consuming, and energy-draining process. That's why many choose to pay a specialized company to do this. Today, I'm checking out a one-of-a-kind build from Nomadik Customs.
As its name suggests, Nomadik Customs is all about custom projects. The Portland, Oregon-based company is made up of a team of artists. Camper vans, or as they call them, "freedom machines," are their canvas. They have built more than 50 rigs in the last three years, all unique and 100% custom. That's quite an achievement.

This van's customers had a clear vision for his tiny home on wheels: they wanted all the features to be hidden and to have enough room to sit four people. And that's what Nomadik Customs delivered. Let's take a closer look, starting with the exterior.

What we have here is a 4x4 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter cargo van with a 170" wheelbase transformed into a mobile home. Its exterior is packed with features. At the rear, you'll discover a ladder/spare tire carrier. Moreover, a rack with a wooden deck occupies about half of the roof. A sizeable pop-top roof tent takes up the other half – I'll tell you more about it in a bit.

Slide the main door open, and you'll be greeted by a stunning walnut interior paired with black-and-white touches. Much of the wood you see inside is real, meaning it's not veneer or laminate. It takes a superior level of craftsmanship and woodworking to achieve this result, especially since there are some complicated designs inside with curved edges. Add the fact that the team had to hide all the features, and you can imagine how challenging this project was.

The customer opted for an open layout, meaning the driver's cabin isn't separated from the living space. The first area you'll be in as you enter is the dining/seating area. I like that this part of the van is very well-lit due to the enormous windows on both sides.

You'll notice the seating area is comprised of a sizeable couch on the driver's side and a bench on the opposite side. Nomadik Customs made slatted designs for the lower parts of both the bench and the couch.

The couch can be extended and connected to the bench, essentially creating a large L-shaped couch. Moreover, you can even call it a C-shaped seating area if you take into account that both the driver and passenger seats can be swiveled to face the living space. Furthermore, you can add a swivel table between the couch and bench.

If the couch's L-shaped arrangement isn't enough, you can create even more seating spots by extending the entire couch, not just part of it. The fully extended couch will have the same dimensions as a full-size bed, making it perfect for accommodating guests.

The couch and the main bed aren't the only sleeping spots in this van. You can use a telescopic ladder to climb inside the pop-top roof tent. It provides room for two and comes with zippable windows.

But where's the main bed? Well, the driver's side wall is the bed since this van's customers opted for a Murphy bed. When you're ready to go to sleep, you can pull the pins holding the bed upright and fold it down. I love the custom work the company did for the wall behind the Murphy bed – it's a hand-wood-burnt vintage map of Hawaii. Above, you'll notice two reading lights.

The couch I talked about earlier continues alongside the Murphy bed toward the rear. Moreover, each seating spot boasts storage underneath. It's a really clever and efficient solution to have places to store your stuff while not sacrificing seating options.

Opposite the Murphy bed, Nomadik Customs added a kitchen. A tri-fold panel hides the kitchen features and can be easily folded up. The ingenious design touches don't stop there. The countertop can be slid out toward the front of the van to reveal a stainless steel kitchen and a single-burner induction stove.

Other notable kitchen features are a small shelf, a spice rack, a knife rack, and the rig's control panel, which consists of light switches and a controller for the van's power system. What's more, there are plenty of storage options in the form of massive drawers and two enormous overhead cabinets.

But wait, there's more – it seems the kitchen extends toward the rear, but that second half is, in fact, an office. Another folding panel can be lifted up to reveal a monitor attached to a swivel mount. Furthermore, you can pull out a drawer and place a mouse and a keyboard on it. Above, two additional overhead cabinets can be used to store your belongings.

The bathroom/wet room is located at the rear of this camper van. Because Nomadik Customs devised it at the rear, they were able to make it much bigger than the bathrooms on most camper vans. That means there's plenty of room to store bulkier items, such as bikes.

It consists of a rain shower head, a wand, and a walnut mat on the passenger side. On the opposite side, you'll notice a floor-to-ceiling walnut unit that offers extra storage space and houses a slide-out Laveo dry flush toilet attached to a swivel mount.

By the way, water inside this rig is provided by a 57-gallon (215-liter) freshwater tank connected to a 4-gallon (15-liter) heater, and it drains into an under-mounted greywater tank.

Even though the entire bathroom is marine coated, Nomadik Customs added a roll-down shower curtain you can use. Right above it, you'll discover a sizeable skylight that not only ventilates the area when open but also allows you to stargaze while enjoying a nice, hot shower.

All in all, this tiny home on wheels is truly unique, brought to life by a team of talented artists. You're probably curious about how much a build like this will set you back financially. Well, Nomadik Customs didn't share the exact price of this unit, but we do know how much they usually charge for a custom build.

The company's projects typically start between $95,000 and $135,000 (€88,868 and €126,286) and can go up to $225,000 (€210,476) if you add premium systems, exterior components, and mechanical upgrades. That's quite a hit on your bank account, but just look at the company's striking work. Custom build will always be pricey, but you get a durable masterpiece on wheels.
