Even though I'm not a huge fan of the Scion brand, I'm a little sad to see it being absorbed by Toyota. Sure, all the right stuff is being kept, but we're never going to see cars aimed at students or ones shaped like boxes again.
The last Scion is the tC Release Series 10.0. It features a body kit designed in the JDM style by Ken Miura and a new paint color called Barcelona Red. Remember when the tC was deemed cool?

Ever since 2013 or so, the only cool Scion has been the one that sends its power to the rear wheels. The Scion FR-S was part of a lengthy development process that involved several concepts and all the crazy tests Toyota and Subaru could come up with, including driving on snow to test the center of gravity.

Before we got to know them as the Subaru BRZ, Toyota GT 86 and Scion FR-S, these coupes were collectively known as the "Toyobaru." We don't need to tell you that their name was formed from the first part of Toyota and the second from Subaru. Somehow, this funky little name stuck around even after the launch. Some have even come up with the appropriate badge.

It's a merger between the Toyota badge and the stars from Subaru. We think it's an excellent way to honor not only the passing of the Scion brand but the excellent car that the FR-S used to be.

You see, Toyota had all the time in the world to improve the GT 86 and turn it into a sportscar brand that can survive the ages. But one after the other, the supercharged version and the proposed convertible projects died. After over one year in development, all we got is 5 extra horsepower and the same amount of torque.

The 86 is all about fun, not speed, they say. It will become more expensive if we make it faster, they complain. But what's wrong with a $30,000 Toyota with around 250 horsepower? Nobody says a VW Golf R or a Ford Fucus RS are too fast for the road, right?

He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
