Amid words of financial problems or other forms of internal turmoil, British carmaker Aston Martin is trying to keep its spirits up by teaching the general public how to sketch their own versions of Aston cars.
About a week ago, Aston’s lead exterior designer Antonino Lo Re and exterior designer Sam Holgate gave us a few tips into how to perfectly match the sketches of the Valkyrie and Vantage the two men drew in front of the camera.

This week a new episode in the series called Design Masterclass was published, with the same Sam Holgate explaining the hows and whys of the DBX.

The DBX is the carmaker’s first SUV, a segment to which even more prestigious brands like Bentley, Lamborghini and Rolls-Royce eventually caved to. Introduced in 2019, it is perhaps the most challenging car ever designed by the people in Gaydon.

Shaped more like a crossover than a classic SUV, the DBX needed what Aston called at the time the broadest design brief of any of its cars ever, meaning a lot of effort went into making sure it does not look out of place surrounded by the Aston cars we grew to know and love.

With carefully crafted proportions and a front end shaped not unlike that of regular luxury and performance-oriented Astons, the DBX looks at home both in the carmaker’s lineup, and on any type of terrain the driver might think to throw at it.

As for how to draw one up for yourself, the three-minute clip attached below this text reveals all you need is a piece of paper and a pencil to go with following the precise instructions of the designer.

Be warned, though, Sam Holgate makes the entire process look a lot easier than it actually is, and trying to copy his precise moves has the potential of becoming extremely annoying.
