Learn How to Draw an Aston Martin Valkyrie in 4 Minutes

Growing up, most of us boys (and probably some girls too) have went through what could be described as the car designer phase. For longer or shorter periods of time, we’ve tried either copying existing designs, or coming up with something of our own. Few of us grew to actually pursue a career in car design, while the rest of us sucked at it and dropped it altogether.

But British carmaker Aston Martin thinks there’s a car designer in all of us. All we need, it seems, is the right guiding hand to help us along, give us some tips and if need be, even show us the ropes.

In a short series of (for now) two YouTube videos, Aston Martin and the people working for it in the design department are trying to be that guiding hand. You know, for all those feeling they could have made more of themselves had those weird childhood drawings of cars not been shaped like rectangles propped on a bunch of circles.

A pair of How to videos is already up and running on Aston’s YouTube channel, the first showing us how to draw a Valkyrie, and the second how to do the same with the Vantage. We posted them both below, but we’ll try our hand on the Valkyrie, of course, because most of the times something like this is what those early rectangles were supposed to be.

The four minute video detailing how to draw the car (same length for the Vantage) shows Aston’s lead exterior designer Antonino Lo Re sitting in front of a blank sheet of paper, pencil in hand, ready to guide us through all the steps.

And boy does he make it look easy. We couldn’t pull it off, at least not for now, but we’ll keep trying. For us, it seems, the learning process will take a lot longer than four minutes. Let us know if it’s easier for you.
