As it often happens in the world of home-brewed contraption, we’ve come across a machine that looks like a death trap, but one we’d love to drive, if only for a little while.
We’re talking about a crossbreed between a car and a boat hauler. The donor vehicle, if we can call it so, was cut right after the front seats, with the rest of the vehicle being a custom project.
We could say we’re dealing with a machine that’s undecided when it comes to its identity. Is this a car or is it a trailer with a motor attached to its front end? Well, if the vehicle itself isn’t sure, we certainly can’t come up with a verdict.
Sure, the original structure was reinforced to make up for at least a part of the lost torsional rigidity, but the exoskeleton is far from being the central point of this build.
That role goes to the hydraulic system in the lower area of the vehicle. This is used to to push the boat into the water or bring it into hauling position.
And to make sure nobody missed the custom build, the vehicle used the same shade of purple as the boat it’s hauling.
Since this is a drag boat we are talking about here, we have one more dilemma on our hands - which one of these two machines has a greater desire to bite your head off? Judging by the engine sticking out of that boat, we think the car is the safer choice, even when driven at speeds superior to those you can achieve in a parking lot.
PS: check out the “marine” steering wheel of the thing, it’s a bonus that kind of takes the cake when it comes to the interior.
