Mazda North American Operations recently announced its full-year performance for 2023 sales, and the figures were quite rosy, indeed. For example, it had the best December ever.
But that was just the tip of the iceberg. After the 44.8% sales increase of the last month of the year, full deliveries for 2023 rose by 23.2 percent to over 363k vehicles. That's a very good performance from the little Japanese automaker and a testament to its desire to offer some of the safest yet coolest models on the market.

For example, the all-new CX-90, the small Mazda3 Sedan and Hatchback, and the CX-30 crossover SUV earned the top accolade from IIHS - 2023 TOP SAFETY PICK+. That's not bad for the big CUV that starts from almost $40k but a lot more impressive for the compact models that start from a little over $24k (Mazda3 Sedan).

Well, it's not like we are too surprised by the performance achieved by the compact series – the Mazda3 nameplate has been around since 2003, and two decades later, it has already reached its fourth iteration. Meanwhile, the little CX-30 subcompact CUV is deeply related to the current Mazda3 generation (BP), even though it's much newer as it arrived on the US market for the 2020 model year.

However, that doesn't mean the competition is dormant. Entirely on the contrary, as the automotive industry never sleeps. As such, it's always best to keep an eye on what's coming. No worries if you can't do it because there are so many variables; you can just rely on the rumor mill to get the job done. Then, it's time for the imaginative realm of digital car content creators to fill in the CGI blanks with their visions.

Just recently, a collection of channels on YouTube - PoloTo, Digimods Design, Q Cars, and Next-Gen Cars - have asked their resident pixel masters to come up with lots of ideas about what comes next from Mazda. Everyone knows that in the real world, a CX-70 mid-size crossover SUV is arriving in North America as a sibling of the first-ever CX-90. Over in the parallel universes of vehicular CGI, though, it's all about the little ones.

For starters, PoloTo's CGI expert envisioned the new 2025 Mazda CX-30 Hybrid as an answer to the rise of the Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid across the sales ranks – it's smaller and nimbler, so maybe it's also going to be cheaper. Secondly, Dimas Ramadhan, the virtual automotive artist behind the Digimods DESIGN moniker, also imagined the next-generation CX-30 high-riding crossover SUV but mistakenly dubbed it the Mazda3 (hatchback).

It looks modern and cool, but it's clearly the crossover, not the low-slung hatchback. Anyway, let's get down to business with the Mazda3 Sedan as Q Cars' author dreamt of a stylish, premium take on the four-door model. Meanwhile, the peeps over at Next-Gen Car thought it suitable to also present us with a two-door fastback coupe version of the compact series. So, which one is your favorite?
