Cyclists know how nerve-racking it can be to ride your bike on the road, surrounded by drivers. While the latter are protected by their bulky metal cages, cyclists are vulnerable and exposed, risking their life pedal after pedal. This new tail light can make the road a much safer place for bike riders, by keeping drivers at a safe distance and making cyclists more visible.
London-based product designer Sean Whiffin has recently started a Kickstarter campaign for his new bike accessory called L-BOW MK2. This is a flexible, bendable tail light that you mount on your bike seat and can be positioned in any direction you want, left, right, or up. The fact that it’s completely bendable makes it a good option for both sides of the road and extends your presence, making you more visible to drivers.
The L-BOW MK2 gets attached with a patented magnetic connector with a quick-release system. Even though it’s easy to snap on and off, its strong joint makes it shock resistant, for when you hit a bump, you jump or fall. There is also a universal seat adapter included for those who prefer to ride with the seat in a low position or with a saddle bag attached.
The light is waterproof, uses LEDs and its 130 lumens make it bright enough even for day use. There are eight light settings to choose from.
The device is powered by a rechargeable Li-Ion battery that has a life of 45 hours per charge at a high flash mode. You can recharge it via USB.
Designer Sean Whiffin raised over $10,400 so far on Kickstarter and will most likely reach his $13,900 goal in no time, with 28 days left in the campaign. Those who are interested in the L-Bow MK2 have to pledge at least £25 (approx. $35) to get one device. The estimated delivery time is June 2021.
