If you like muscle cars, you probably enjoy barn finds as well, as they typically provide you with the chance to bring a legend back to life with the right restoration job.
But as far as this abandoned 1971 Dodge Demon is concerned, the chances to ever see it fully restored are close to zero given the way it looks right now.
Instagram user hemisublime, who posted the photos of this sad barn find on the social network only a few hours ago, claims this is the Sizzler package that was released to add some extra styling to the original model.
More specifically, the Sizzler came with a dedicated name decal, a flat-back hood treatment, body side and rear deck racing stripes, special wheels, body-color grille frame, with buyers allowed to choose between Plum Crazy, Hemi Orange, and Citron yellow.
The ‘71 Dodge Demon Sizzler is an impressive muscle car, and at the core of everything is the original Chrysler 318 cubic inches (5.2-liter) V8 engine that developed 230 horsepower (SAE Gross).
Despite its name fitting its styling like a glove, the car eventually ended up getting renamed at the pressure of several Christian groups who complained of the Demon moniker and its logo that resembled a devil with a pitchfork. The car was then called Dart Sport and received several design cues, including the front end, as other Dart models in the lineup.
At the end of the day, seeing such a great muscle car abandoned in the middle of nowhere with no chances to ever be brought back to life is sad, to say the least, especially because so many people are willing to spend thousands of dollars for such a gem.
If anything, finding a Dodge Demon is still possible if you know where to look, although it goes without saying that not a single unit deserves to be dumped like the one right here.
