The 1971 model year witnessed several notable changes in the Chevelle lineup, starting with GM's attention to simplifying the offering.
The 300 Deluxe waved goodbye to buyers, and the new base model was now the simply-baptized Chevelle. The Malibu continued to be the icing on the Chevelle cake, and customers who wanted the best of the best could choose from five body styles, namely sedan, sports sedan, sports coupe, convertible, and wagon.

Important changes also happened in the engine department, where Chevrolet dropped the LS6. The LS5 was the best customers could get, offering 365 horsepower.

The Chevelle SS was still around, but the engine choice was reduced to two mills: the 402 or the 454 big-block unit. The latter was also installed on this Chevelle SS when it rolled off the assembly lines in 1971, but the original block is only a good memory now.

What happens under the hood is the car's main selling point. Owner by the same man since 1977, the Chevelle SS 454 received a notable overhaul in 2005. The work included a repaint, which according to eBay seller stevelva, was done at a show-quality level. The owner wanted to preserve the original color, so the blue finish is the one that this Chevelle carried when it left the factory.

While the interior was kept original, the Chevelle received a massive upgrade under the hood. The owner wasn't entirely satisfied with the muscle delivered by the original 454, so they installed a GM Performance 502 unit with 502 horsepower.

The seller claims the car drives like a new vehicle, "except it has 500 horsepower."

The original body panels are still on the car, and the proper maintenance conducted by the same owner since 1977 is to thank for. The vehicle never struggled with rust or other problems caused by accidents, so it's still as solid as possible.

You don't have to be a Chevelle connoisseur to understand that this 1971 SS is a head-turning machine, especially because it doesn't need anything to hit the road. It has recently received regular maintenance, with new fluids and filters, brakes, shocks, and springs, so you can hop in and drive it if you reach a deal.

However, as anyone can imagine, a partly original Chevelle with a massive engine upgrade under the hood doesn't sell cheaply. The seller is willing to let the Super Sport go for $60,000, and the price looks firm, as they didn't enable the Make Offer option.

Interested buyers are recommended to inspect the Chevelle in person or order a third-party inspection, especially if they want to verify all the seller's promises. This Super Sport can be found in Berlin, Connecticut, where it's waiting for the end of the eBay battle in eight days.
