Remember when people couldn't stop raving about the C8 Corvette Stingray? When people shouted from the rooftops that the first mid-engine Corvette was a sign that the American auto industry could finally be taken seriously in the sports car space compared to its European and Japanese rivals? Well, it's funny how the Z06 and the E-Ray put a stop to all that. But that is not to say there still aren't ways to make your bog-standard C8 Stingray a little more special. Just ask Milltek Corp, the U.S.-based division of the U.K.-based Milltek Sport group.
Because, of course, what better group to try and make America's sports car even more fun to drive than a British manufacturer of high-end performance exhaust systems? It's not like we fought two wars to have the right to do it ourselves or anything. Except, hamfisted jokes aside, what Milltek Corp's come up with is actually quite exciting indeed. That's especially true if you found the C8 Corvette Stingray's exhaust too quiet or at least not boisterous enough. Milltek's premium exhaust kit, developed just for the Stingray's 6.2-liter LT2 V8, takes an already potent powerplant and allows it to breathe a little easier and carry a little less dead weight around.

Weighing in at 39 lbs (17.7 kg) less overall than the exhaust system fitted to the C8 Stingray from the factory, that little extra weight saving could mean the difference between victory and defeat out on the track. When the racing is so close that .1 seconds feels like ten seconds or more, that extra weight saving is going to come in handy in ways you might not expect. With quad four-inch tips on offer that look more like ballistic missile silos than they do exhaust pipes, there's every reason to suspect this exhaust system would look wicked on any C8 Stingray, regardless of the exterior color choice.

In case this color contrast is still an issue, Miltek's taken the liberty of offering their new exhaust setup in a range of finishes ranging from polished stainless, Cerakote satin black, brushed titanium, burnt/blue titanium, or carbon fiber to ensure there's no color combination of paint and exhaust that doesn't quite contrast in the way their owners might wish. Fashioned from the finest anti-magnetic T304L "aircraft-grade" stainless steel with beefy three-inch wall tubing linking it to the rest of the vehicle, Miltek's C8 Stingray-exclusive exhaust systems are above and beyond what your average exhaust shop can whip up from scratch on an average Tuesday.

This kind of quality comes at a price, of course. That'd be $3,471 before taxes and fees for the stainless steel or satin black exhaust tips. Safe to say, there are plenty of Stingray owners out there who would find this infinitely tempting.
