There Is No Way We Can Call the TH730 "Just a Toy Hauler." This Machine Is Other-Worldly

It's nothing new that Australia does things a bit differently when it comes to off-road and off-grid adventures. In that spirit, we take a look at how Patriot Campers does toy haulers. Lube your chains, check that tire pressure, and get ready for some toy-filled fun in the sun, rain, or middle of a friggin swamp!
Ladies and gentlemen, the name Patriot Campers is sure to sound familiar, especially since they're one of the few Australian crews that design, manufacture, and sell Australian-born RVs and campers on an international level. Recently, they've even begun supplying the US with their amazingly capable campers; if you're ever in Vegas, ring them up.

But, this time around, I've decided to break away from this crew's campers and shed light on another side of their outdoor goodies: their toy haulers. Keep in mind that these things hit a bit differently in Aussieland, so expect to see something else entirely. As for the unit we'll be exploring, it's the TH730, the largest of three trinkets.

Now, upon encountering this behemoth for the first time, I couldn't shake the idea that I was looking at a damn tank! I mean it; this thing's on a different level than any old toy hauler we may be used to. Heck, I never used anything like this to take our ATVs and bikes out into the desert; we just used a simple old trailer with tie-dows and removable ramps. While the tie-downs are still the way you'll be securing your vehicles to the TH730, the rest of the unit is a monster.

To make things easier to understand, let's begin from the ground up and go from there, and all that starts off with one hell of an off-road suspension system. Overall, a dual-shock suspension A-arm setup is in place for each of the wheels. Yes, it's all independent, and even more control is granted by the presence of double convoluted airbags. What more could you want!? Oh, you want self-leveling, do you? You got it!

But the fun clearly doesn't end there. Overall, the TH730 is 23 ft long, but of those 23 ft, only 10 ft is the actual deck upon which you'll load your toys. The rest is reserved for that bulbous and camper-like unit, filled with storage bays, awnings, roof racks, and a whole bunch of systems that are designed to keep you alive and comfortable, be it for a day or more.

Let me start things off by pointing out that over 2,400 liters (634 gals) of storage space are available in this part of the TH, all kept shut with anti-vibration latches in a dust-free space. There's side storage, side drawers, rooftop storage, and fully carpeted compartments.

Ok, so I'll stop creating suspense around the TH730 and dive right into the rest of its magic. Stuffed into that camper section, Patriot adds countless essentials we'll need to live out on the range or proverbial bush. I'm talking about features and tools the likes of two 150 Ah batteries, inverter, BMS, 115 liters (30 gals) of water, two gas bottle holders, and even hot running water provided by a gas heater. Hang on a minute; this is a toy hauler? Well, yes, but then again, as I mentioned, so much more. Solar panels are also part of the magic, part of RedArc's Sun Power lineup.

Now, as you're out there romping around and the sun beating down on you, you're bound to get drained, so to replenish your soul and spirit with the meals you need, Patriot also includes a swing-away BBQ and a fridge-freezer with ice-maker into your experience.

There's just one piece of hardware missing from this contraption, or is there? I'm talking about throwing a rooftop tent onto this "toy hauler." Well, you can, and even Patriot offers three choices to pick from, so yeah, to call the TH730 just a toy hauler is clearly an understatement.

Come to think of it, even Patriot doesn't consider the TH730 as just a toy hauler. As I explored this other-worldly machine, I found a video, the one posted below, and in it, the words "base camp toy hauling solution" are heard. Those are the very words I've been searching for since the beginning of this article. Just kidding; all this is premeditated, just like the TH730.

As for what your life may be like with one of these babies, take a moment out of your busy day to do just that; picture yourself in possession of this machine, and come Saturday morning, before the sun even rises, you're checking off the last of the list, and soon, you're in your 4x4 with a TH730 behind you, carrying your quads and dirt bikes.

Once you've reached your destination, it's time to unload your goods, stabilize your unit, and before long, you've got a grill going, the music is blaring, and the gang is filling the local landscape with laughter. Heck, you've even got a bed waiting for you in case you have a bit too much to drink. Sounds like one heck of a way to spend the weekend and summers.

According to the manufacturer's website, to do that, you'll need to dish out at least $76,200 (€71K at current exchange rates) American for one of these babies. So, it's a bit higher than what the average Joe might consider dishing out for something like this, but consider what you're really buying, and then ask yourself that question again. I'm not saying there aren't any cheaper units and brands out there, but when was the last time you spotted something like this? Feel free to comment.
