US-based company Epic EV has partially unveiled its new TORQ Roadster, which is claimed to be the world's fastest 3-wheeled electric vehicle.
Powered by an electric motor that generates 400 HP and a peak torque of 600 lb-ft (812 Nm) thanks to a pack of Lithium batteries, the TORQ Roadster is reportedly able to reach 60 mph (96 km/h) from a standing start in just 4 seconds.
Designed by Motive Industries in partnership with Eleven Design, the 3-wheeler was gifted with Formula 1 style high-performance custom suspension built by Palatov Motorsports, while Magnum Offroad and Flux Power were in charge with creating the lightweight chassis and an Advanced Lithium Storage system respectively.
"While seeking record breaking MPGe with the 3 Wheeled Aptera Electric Vehicle I often found myself longing for a more aggressive styled and track worthy adaptation. The TORQ will create a class of its own with its perfect balance of power, handling and aggressive styling," said Chris Anthony, Epic EV's founder. "The TORQ Roadster confirms that you don't have to compromise performance to embrace efficient vehicle technologies."
Epic EV will build just 50 TORQ Roadsters this year, with prices starting at $65,000 in the US and €50,000 in Europe. Deliveries will commence next month.
