The 2013 Police DS has surfaced and it looks even better than the standard series. More and more police squads are becoming interested in gearing up with e-bikes, especially as the newer models come with beefed up performance and now offer better mileage, while the running costs are being kept low.
As police officer David Ball adds, some of the most important advantages the electric bikes offer are the stealth factor and the very strong acceleration, key tactical elements in police operations. And since DS stands for Dual Sport, it's obvious how nice it is being able to ride on and off the road with the same agility.
We're having a rather hard time picturing a huge police Electra chasing perpetrators on forest trails in a park, so we can only hope that adding electric bikes to state agencies is a solid step the e-industry takes for a more modern future.
