Not everyone wants to travel in tiny homes on wheels. Some people just want to escape in the outdoors with a group of friends, have a nice meal, laugh a little, and just hang around without having to spend the night. If you're one of these people, I have something for you today: the Ushi portable hangout trailer.
Ushi Outdoors is a company based in Charlotte, NC that currently has a single product available: the Ushi trailer. As its maker describes, "Ushi was born to be a partner for those who imagine outdoor adventures."

The idea for this product popped up when the creators were trekking in the Blue Ridge Mountains in North Carolina. They saw people going back and forth to their campers, carrying boxes, tents, and more, clearly not enjoying it. So, the solution to make camping excursions easier and more accessible was a versatile, light, yet strong trailer that gives you the freedom to go wherever your imagination drives you.

The Ushi is built out of anodized aluminum, cut with laser equipment, and folded and manually riveted with state-of-the-art processes. Of course, the aluminum construction makes it sturdy while also keeping weight to a minimum.

This trailer tips the scales at 640 lb. (290 kg) dry, meaning it can be towed by most vehicles. You can even move it and adjust its placement yourself once you reach the campsite or if you need to fit it in your garage. The manufacturer estimates a weight of about 1,100 lb. (500 kg) with a full gear load.

Regarding dimensions, the trailer is 69 inches (175 centimeters) wide and 55 inches (140 centimeters) long, so it's quite compact.

The Ushi features a galvanized torsion axle that can support up to 1,500 lb. (680 kg). Up front, you'll notice a 2-inch ball, a swinging jack, and a seven-pin plug. Moreover, the manufacturer made the tongue removable, so it's as easy as possible to store the trailer when you're not using it.

Other notable elements in the front are a rod holder for three fishing rods, a bike holder that can fit three bikes and a storage spot for a propane tank. On top of the trailer, you'll discover a 13 x 13-inch (33 x 33-centimeter) gazebo.

The best part of the Ushi is definitely the rear. That's where you'll find a huge compartment that houses a two-burner Dometic stove, some USB plugs, and lights. These features are integrated into wood panels – Ushi explained they chose wood because it can withstand rougher weather. Underneath the countertop, you'll notice two small drawers and one larger drawer.

To reveal this compartment, you'll have to lift a large door. On its inside, the manufacturer installed some bungee cords and something similar to Molle panels, enabling you to attach whatever you want to them.

At the bottom of the trailer's rear, you'll find a considerable drawer that boasts two separate parts. The first is a 6-foot (182 centimeters) folding table for six people. Remove that, and you'll discover several smaller compartments that can hold a bunch of stuff. As it says on a sticker on the rear bumper, make sure to set up the stabilizing jacks (one at the front and one at the rear) before opening these compartments.

On the trailer's right side, Ushi Outdoors added a spot to fit a small table and devised another enormous drawer that's perfect for holding a cooler box. Underneath this compartment, the company fitted the electrical system, consisting of a 12 V AGM battery and a kill switch. Go deeper, and you'll find another compartment that can fit up to four small propane tanks.

On the opposite side, you'll discover yet another large compartment that holds the other critical system for camping: the water system. It's quite simple, featuring a portable water faucet and a collapsible sink. Mount a wooden frame to the trailer's side, attach these two components, and you're good to go.

There's a bunch of space remaining in the side compartment, so you can fit some chairs, another water tank, a portable garbage can, or whatever you need for your trip.

And that's about it for the Ushi trailer. Even though it's so small, it packs a good amount of features. You're probably curious to learn about the price, as it's a factor that usually makes or breaks a deal. Pricing starts at $9,960 (€9,117), and there are multiple customization options. If you want it fully loaded, you'll have to add around $1,500 (€1,373) more.

There are many ways you could use the Ushi trailer. You could use it for camping, a weekend barbecue, a fishing trip, and more. I find that the price is a bit too high, considering you could find decently equipped teardrop campers for about the same price.

The Ushi is manufactured in Dallas, North Carolina, and can be shipped nationwide. You can learn more about this tiny yet capable trailer on Ushi Outdoors' website.
