Using an iPhone 11 with Apple CarPlay on a Harley-Davidson motorcycle is a huge pain in the neck these days, as phone calls, which is obviously one key feature of the whole thing, no longer work at all.
The issue was originally reported in 2019 when the first Harley-Davidson owners who purchased the iPhone 11 noticed they were unable to make calls using CarPlay.

They took to Apple’s forums to complain of the issue, emphasizing that older iPhones worked just fine with CarPlay, even when updated to iOS 13. So the issue was exclusive to the brand-new iPhone 11.

All other features work including music, maps, WhatsApp, text etc. Only audio calls do not work with the wireless Bluetooth Sena headset,” one Harley-Davidson owner explained in their broken phone calls report.

The first time we covered the issue was in early March when a Harley-Davidson official reportedly acknowledged the CarPlay problem and promised a fix.

But fast-forward to today and the fix is yet to land, with Harley-Davidson owners complaining that nobody seems to care about restoring CarPlay on their motorcycles.

Someone on Apple’s forums explains they reached out to the Cupertino-based tech company several times, only to be told a fix was on its way to the iPhone 11.

I've spent months and probably 15 calls to Apple,” Harley-Davidson customer Pete Rod explains. “One minute I call, they're ‘working on it’. Next time I call, they've not heard of the problem. Trying to reach them is a nightmare and it's just as bad once you reach them.

Harley-Davidson officially acknowledged the CarPlay glitch in a tweet on February 24, when the company also confirmed it was working with Apple to find “a solution as soon as possible.” No updates have been offered in the nearly two months since then.

A customer says they also contacted Harley-Davidson, only to be told they’re not the ones who should roll out a fix.

They just told me they don’t manufacture the Boom Box GTS and that it’s an Apple problem there just stuck in the middle. Which is certainly not supporting their customers. I even escalated to Sena since they manufacture the Whim and my 20s evo and tried to escalate to Harmon Carden [sic] and never got a response. It’s been 6 months and it doesn’t appear we’re any closer,” they says.

At this point, it’s not clear if a fix is on its way or not so the only thing these Harley-Davidson owners can do is just to use an older iPhone hoping that one day CarPlay would work correctly with the iPhone 11 on their motorcycles.
