Brabus doesn’t make just souped-up, basically invincible luxury vehicles: it can deliver similar performance on water. The recently released, award-winning and limited-edition Shadow 900 series is proof of that.
There are powerboats and then there are... powerboats. Brabus makes the kind of day boat that would make a perfect companion for any millionaire superhero or even villain. The Shadow 900 Black Ops Boat may never be put to this type of use, but it has the specs to qualify for it: it’s incredibly fast, incredibly powerful and the best of its class.
At 38 feet (11.5 meters), Shadow 900 comes in Sun-Top and Spyder versions, aka “the comfortable passage maker” and the “full-open version for pure, unadulterated driving pleasure.” Only 37 pieces of both models will be made, while pricing starts at $450,000, going up depending on customization and extra options.
The Shadow 900 Series brings a sleeker hull, improved hydrodynamics and a more powerful, lighter propulsion. Twin 450 hp outboard engines (450R Verado XL 4.6 liter V8 FourStroke by Mercury Marine, with Joystick Piloting) take this impressive boat up to a blistering 60 knots, a 10-knot improvement over any other offering in the entire Shadow range. The cruising speed is at a more comfortable 30-40 knots, and the Shadow 900 Series boasts improved fuel consumption as well.
Every detail on each of the 37 examples that will be made is hand-crafted: Brabus says the paint job alone takes up to six weeks to complete on a single item. The result is unparalleled levels of craftsmanship and the feeling of a truly exclusive offering.
Shadow 900 will be offered in a gunmetal gray over a red interior scheme, with accommodation for 10. Owners can opt for an aft cabin and a forward cabin, each with sleeping room for two, and a wet bar package.
“Extravagant, hedonistic and brilliant, […] packed with technical innovation and blistering performance at heart,” Shadow 900 Series was awarded the 2020 Red Dot Design Award in the Product Design Category in mid-May.
