Even though it is a bit early for an April Fools joke, we ingurgitated the following information with a pinch of salt before we finished reading it, and apparently it is the real deal.
An American company called Strategic Vision has put its researching resources in creating an annual “Most Loved Vehicles in America” report, and its findings for 2014 have hit the web in what other moment than this year's Valentine's Day.

While skimming through the winners, divided by 26 segments plus an overall winner, we found the current generation of the Mercedes-Benz SL Roadster to get the award for the “Most Loved Premium convertible/Roadster” in the US.

Fret not, as the SL's “Love” score of 753 was not picked at random, but “calculated using the reported Love score for each of the attributes delivered by the vehicle and the dealership experiences weighted by each vehicle’s outcome scores - commitment, overall satisfaction, total top emotional responses, proposed repurchase loyalty and actual repurchase loyalty - to provide a Most Loved Index.”

That sounds about right, doesn't it?

Now at its sixth generation, the Mercedes-Benz SL Roadster (R231) is arguably not the prettiest in history, with its squarish headlights not necessarily evoking a cute and lovable face.

Not to say that it's a bad car, as our SL 63 AMG test drive made us conclude that it's probably one of the best sporting roadsters ever made, if not the best.
