There's a new kid on the electric SUV block, and it comes from Cadillac. You see, GM's premium car brand wants to go EV-only by the end of the decade, and they have just taken a significant step in this direction by unveiling the first-ever electron-sipping Escalade.
Baptized the Cadillac Escalade IQ, it will come to life at Factory Zero, and deliveries are expected to commence next summer. Full pricing will be released in due course, but it's believed to start at roughly $130,000, placing it between the normal 2023 Escalade and the Escalade V-Series.

Based on the Ultium platform, it features an 800-volt architecture. Thus, it can sip electrons for up to 100 miles (161 km) in just 10 minutes at a fast charger, and each hour of charging at a 19.2 kW home connection will add 37 miles (60 km) to the range – or almost 15 miles (24 km) at 7.7 kW. When fully charged, the 200-kWh battery pack will give it an autonomy of around 450 miles (724 km). The battery powers two electric motors that generate a combined 680 hp and 615 lb-ft (834 Nm) of torque. These numbers climb to 750 hp and 785 lb-ft (1,064 Nm) in the Velocity Max mode.

The Cadillac Escalade IQ doesn't cut back on luxury, comfort, tech, and safety. It features available individual rear seats with massaging, heating, and ventilation functions, a pair of 12.6-inch displays, stowable tray tables, a rear command center, and a large panoramic roof. Inspired by the Celestiq, the cockpit also gets a 55-inch curved display, a premium audio system from AKG, and additional gear that will be detailed closer to launch.

With an imposing face and a rather sporty back end, the design is certainly eye-catching. Despite featuring all-quiet power, it still manages to identify as an Escalade, so you won't mistake it for anything else – unless you really don't know anything about cars, especially modern ones. We're convinced that tuners and wheelmakers alike are already preparing various aftermarket parts for it. Thus, from beefed-up body kits to chassis enhancements and perhaps additional power, joined by reupholstered interiors with a bit more individuality, will be available for the electric SUV soon.

These renderings, which came via abimelecdesign on Instagram, preview a slightly sportier take on the Escalade IQ. The model has a pair of large alloys that fill the arches better and sits a bit closer to the road. Chrome trim has replaced the black accents, and instead of a silver finish, it now features a red look. Do you dig the digital styling of this copy, or do you think it's prettier without any mods?
