The First Alfa Romeo 8C Competitzione Arrives in USA

The first Alfa Romeo 8C Competitzione hits US soil as it arrived in Connecticut to greet its new owner. The handover ceremony happened at “Miller Motorcars” where the happy owner (one of the greatest car collectors in the world) picked up his car.

His name is James Glickenhaus and he is particularly proud of being the first US customer to own an Alfa Romeo. In fact, he was so proud that he took his new vehicle out for a spin right away.

The Alfa Romeo 8C is indeed a fine piece of machinery powered by a 4.7 L V8 engine pumping out 450 HP. A Ferrari creation, the powerplant allows the car to go up to 182mph with 4.2 seconds needed to reach 62mph. Maximum torque is 354 lb-ft and it can achieve a lateral acceleration on a skidpad of 1.02g. The brakes are carbon fiber and can make the car go from 60mph to naught in 105.0 ft (32 meters).

Only 500 8Cs were built and these cars are already sold and in the USA where 84 examples are due to arrive until the end of next year.

The other countries the 8c is sold in are: Italy (84), Germany (81), Japan (69), France (39), United Kingdom (41), Switzerland (35), The Netherlands (10), Australia (3), New Zealand (1), Hong Kong (5), and others (48).

Another limited edition to be produced is the 8C Spyder, each one of the 500 units being priced at a whopping 175,000$.
