It is powerful. It is fast. It is light. It is the Centennial Carbon Fiber Shelby GT500CR. Limited to just 10 units, the car is specifically designed for turning heads and taking fun to a whole new level. And for a good cause, too.
The Centennial Carbon Fiber Shelby GT500CR has just driven out of the Classic Recreations specialist shop in Dallas, Texas. The limited-edition GT500CR marks 100 years from Carroll Shelby's birth.

The model was built in partnership with the American Heart Association, which will receive $100,000 for every example sold, which translates to a total of $1 million. Each of the ten units, built for the collectors who are dying to take home a high-end muscle car with retro vibes, will go for $625,000.

What do you get for the price? You get 800 horsepower coming out of the 5.0-liter Coyote V8 engine, fitted with a Magnuson VMP supercharger and linked to something that will make purists rejoice: a Tremec T56 Magnum six-speed manual.

The car can flash from 0 to 60 mph (0 to 97 kph) in 3.2 seconds on its way to a top speed of 189 mph (304 kph). Those figures show that it really means business, especially because it tips the scale at only 3,200 pounds (1,452 kilograms).

A custom double wishbone suspension and adjustable coilers enhance the fun on board the sports car, while Wildwood brakes with six-piston calipers at the front and four-piston calipers at the rear provide the stopping power.

The body of the Shelby GT500CR is made from aerospace-grad prepress carbon fiber, built around a steel inner structure. And it's got looks to match the performance. A triple stripe pattern stretches from one end to the other.

Two solid red stripes are a tribute to the American Heart Association, while the inner stripe, finished in translucent red, sports white pinstripes. It took two months to get the Shelby GT500CR painted like this.

The onboard ambiance confirms the athletic nature of the model. The driver and passenger will sit in Carroll Shelby Scat Rally Series 1000 high-back seats in black leather with contrasting red stitching. The American Heart Association's “Life is Why” logo is embossed on the headrests.

The driver will grab the wooden steering wheel, which is in front of the Carol Shelby Signature authentic gauges, designed specifically for this car, and will control the vehicle with the help of the Shelby driving pedals.

There is a touchscreen in the center console, which offers Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, as well as a Focal audio system.

Classic Recreations came up with Shelby's signature in front of the passenger's seat. There is also a special plaque that identifies this car as one of the 10 examples to be built.
