Toyota told customers right from the start. The SUV was going to slot in the mid-$50,000 range. And here it is, starting at $55,950, which makes it $30,000 more affordable than the previous generation, but with a twist.
Back in 2021, the most affordable Toyota Land Cruiser was $85,665. It was an eight-seater, capable of towing as much as 8,200 pounds (3,719 kilograms), while the 2024 Land Cruiser is offered as a five-seater only and is capable of pulling 6,000 pounds (2,772 kilograms).
The Land Cruiser is returning to the United States after a two-year hiatus. It sets wheels on American soil with its rugged and ready-for-everything appearance, hinting at the design elements from the late 1950s, when it first made it to the US, long before it gained its iconic off-roader reputation.
Built on the TNGA-F body-on-frame global truck platform, which is shared with the Tundra, Sequoia, and Tacoma, the all-new 2024 Land Cruisers is powered by the 2.4-liter turbocharged engine, which is now integrated into the i-FORCE MAX hybrid powertrain.
The system generates a total of 326 horsepower (330 metric horsepower) and 465 pound-feet (630 Newton meters) of torque, which are managed by an eight-speed automatic transmission, transferring the output and torque to all four corners with the help of the all-wheel drive.

An electronic locking rear differential splits the power 50/50 for improved traction in the off-road. When the front stabilizer bar is disconnected, the articulation increases and helps the front tires to remain on the ground.

Meanwhile, the Multi-Terrain Select, now functional in both 4WD High and Low, helps control the wheel spin, depending on the surface that the SUV rolls on.
The 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser comes standard with the Downhill Assist Control, which keeps a constant speed while descending, and is also equipped with the updated CRAWL Control function, a low-speed, off-road cruise control with five selectable speeds.
To keep the off-roader credentials of the vehicle, Toyota reduced the front overhand, which increased the approach angle to 31 degrees. The 25-degree breakover and 22-degree departure angles remained the same as in the previous generation.
The model lost the third row of seats along the way but gained the new 8-inch or 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen displaying Toyota’s latest Audio Multimedia system, which supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. There is also a premium 14-speaker JBL audio system on board, as well as the Qi wireless charging system.
The 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser is available in three grades
Customers will be able to choose one of the three grades available: the Land Cruiser 1958, the Land Cruiser, and the limited-run First Edition.
The entry-level version is a tribute to the first-generation Land Cruiser, which arrived in the United States in 1958. It comes with retro-styled round LED headlights, reminiscent of the 60 Series, heated fabric seats, and the iconic TOYOTA heritage grille. A 7-inch instrument cluster, an 8-inch touchscreen, five USB-C ports, and a six-speaker sound system are on the menu.

The Land Cruiser gets rectangular LED headlights, power, heated and ventilated SofTex-trimmed front seats, the 12.3-inch instrument cluster, and the 12.3-inch touchscreen, plus a 10-speaker sound system. Rigid color selectable LED fog lights, the Stabilizer Disconnect Mechanism, the Multi-Terrain Select, and the Multi-Terrain Monitor are also fitted to this grade, which starts at $63,445.
Customers can also check the Premium Package box for this variant, which brings leather-trimmed, heated, and ventilated power front seats with lumber support and driver memory features. The Head-up Display and the 14-speaker JBL premium audio system are also included in the package.
Meanwhile, the limited-run First Edition comes with the Premium Package as standard, unique 18-inch wheels, and the ‘First Edition’ logo on the door panels. A roof rack, rock rails, and a front skid plate make it more capable when the SUV leaves the tarmac behind. The future owners will take a First Edition home if they are willing to pay $76,445. Only 5,000 units of this grade will roll off the production line.
Seven exterior paintworks will be available: Ice Cap, Wind Chill Pearl, underground, Black, Meteor Shower, Trail Dust, and, the most daring of them, Heritage Blue. Toyota also offers the model in a two-tone Trail Dust and Heritage Blue combination plus the Grayscape roof.
The model is expected to arrive in the US this upcoming spring with a Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $55,950 or $57,445 with the $1,395 destination fee included.
Toyota’s 36-month or 36,000-mile basic new-vehicle warranty is valid for all components but does not include the normal wear and maintenance items. And there is more! Toyota offers a 60-month/60,000-mile warranty for the powertrain and a 60-month warranty against perforation from corrosion with no mileage limitation. The battery is covered for 10 years and 150,000 miles.
