The Alfa Romeo Centenary Is Here

Alfa Romeo is one of the brands that have a special place in the hearts of automotive enthusiasts and today marks the centenary of the Italian marque.Exactly 100 years ago, the ALFA, an acronym for Anonima Lombarda Fabbrica Automobili (translated to Lombard Automobile Factory, Public Company) was born.

The baby was quite a speeder, as one of its first steps were to to build a car that immediately took multiple motorsport victories. Yes, we are talking about the 1910 24 hp model.

But we are not here to discuss Alfa’s bewildering design or racing podiums history, because, as the recent times have shown, the heritage is not enough to keep a brand alive.

Taking a quick look at the company’s current efforts, we see the that the latest automotive creation to have come out off the Italians’ hands is the recently introduced Giulietta, which plans to change one or two rules in the compact segment.

Alfa has also prepared an infinity of centenary celebration events, with the ceremonies targeting a wide range of events, such as the Concorso d’Eleganza and the Phillip Island Classic Festival of Motor Sport. But the best is still to come, as Alfa Romeo has prepared a spectacular centenary rally, which will take place in its home town of Milan on June 26-27.

In addition to that, Alfa Romeo will be the featured marque of this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed, with the automotive producer set to offer multiple thrills to the attenders.

We prepared a little Alfa Celebration ourselves, deciding to take the 159 1.75 TBi for a test drive party. We’ll share the feelings and emotions generated by the 200 Italian horses with you in the course of the following week - Just make sure you check our test drive section frequently.
