Tons of virtual ink were used in the past year or so to describe a family feud that has divided the biking world. The on- and off-screen battle between the two Teutuls, Paul Sr. and Paul Jr. has made the headlines countless times, being fueled by various TV shows that gained tremendous audiences.
When the new series of American Chopper returns, however, on April 25, things might look a bit different. This time, as it seems, Discovery Channel managed to understand the essence of that battle. Discovery seems to have understood that the war between the two is not necessarily a war between father and son, but a war between two of history's best custom-bike builders.
If we are to judge by the promo released this week by Discovery, that's what you'll see in the new series: a fight between giants, and in courts or on TV screens, but in the garages that have made both famous. The two voices monologue between the two Teutuls in the promo says it all:
“This road that we're on, it's only gonna lead to one place. All this passion and pride... It brought us together and then drove us apart. Everybody's asking: who's the better builder? It's time to find out. You and me. Head to head.”
Now, all of the above dialogue, aside from trying (and succeeding) in building interest for the new series has another face to it. Apparently, Discovery and the two Teutuls try to play down rumors that the scandal between the main characters was staged. For the fans of the series, however, that clarification need not have been made.
