In case you were curious what kind of humor float's Elon Musk's boat, you should be able to find out in a couple of months from now. The Tesla and Space X CEO recently used his Tweeter account to let us know the upcoming 2015 software update for the sedan will include an Easter Egg.
In fact, Musk must've been on a giggle diet for quite a while now, as the last Easter Egg hidden within the depths of the EV's 1s and 0s took about one year to find.

February 2015 will forever remain in electric vehicle history as the month when the James Bond hidden feature of the Model S surfaced. This allows you to change the appearance of the Tesla within a special menu, transforming it into a Lotus Esprit S1 submersible.

The car comes from "The Spy Who Loved Me" Bond movie and, since 2013, can be found in Elon Musk's possession. Just in case you missed the story, we've added a video tutorial that helps you unlock the feature below.

While Musk explains the upcoming Easter Egg will be easier to spot, no details are given. With all the autonomous-cars-taking-over-driving chat Tesla's CEO has been tweeting, perhaps we'll get to see something related to the future of the automotive world.

The upcoming update will bring important new features

Regardless, we have more important things to talk about when it comes to this software update. First of all, the EV maker will release a "range assurance" app that will alert drivers when the battery level drops below a certain level. The application will take into account the distance to the nearest charging station, as well as the occupancy level. Musk promised this would make it "basically impossible" for a driver to run out of electron juice.

Secondly, the Model S will be able to steer itself. The upcoming "autopilot" function will handle the steering, Initially being limited to highway driving - this limitation comes due to the fact that, at highway speeds, the possibilities are much more limited compared to the ton of scenarios that can happen inside a city, for example.

Nonetheless, Tesla plans to allow its cars to drive themselves from "parking lot to parking lot", with Musk even promising drivers will be able to call their cars using their smartphones.

We have about three months until the Tesla Model S software update lands, so you have plenty of time to guess what this is all about in the comments section below.
