Tesla Model S Getting Free Internet Connectivity in Australia

You could easily say the Tesla Model S is a computer on wheels. I mean, it’s the only car on the market to receive regular software upgrades and it also comes with a huge 17-inch “carblet” on the center stack to control everything from air conditioning to suspension setup. The only thing missing is a permanent internet connection.
But TELSRA, Australia’s leading telecommunications and information services company, is about to change that as it teamed up with Tesla to give a free internet connection to each and every Model S sold in the country.

Not sure if you’ll be able to play Battlefield online with your mates while waiting at a stoplight on that massive touchscreen, but the connection will aid you with internet radio, built-in Google Maps and even random Internet browsing.

Everyone gets connected

Even passengers will be able to use the connection at their wish, because the service also turns the car into a mobile Wi-Fi hotspot, so no one will ever bother you with the “Are we there yet?” question on one of those longer trips. Wonder who the hell would be anxious to get out of a Model S so quickly...

And to make everything even better and easier, you’ll be able to lock or unlock the car from a big distance and even turn on the air conditioning to prepare it for your arrival. Tesla technicians will also be able to access the car’s computer to check if all systems are OK.

Our take? Tesla better prepare some strong antivirus programs for the Model S soon. Who would like to push the start button and then take 5 minutes to close penis enlargement ads or uninstall dozens of toolbars?
