Folks, it looks like we're going to watch renders and artist impressions for some time, while we wait for officials teasers from Tesla Motors, because the Model 3 is not going to show up anytime soon.
The Model 3 is on the verge of turning into an all-electric soap opera any time soon, as JB Straubel, chief technical officer and co-founder of Tesla Motors, mentioned in a slide presentation.

According to InsideEVs, the Tesla Model 3 is now planned for 2018, instead of 2017. This might come as a blow for Tesla fans as well as for those interested in buying the Model 3, especially since Tesla CEO Elon Musk said he expected the Model 3 to be revealed in March 2016, only to come out again and argue late 2017 was a more realistic launch timeframe for the Model 3.

The entire Tesla Model 3 situation is a confusing one right now. As you probably recall, the same JB Straubel said the very much awaited Tesla Model 3 will be offered as a saloon but also in crossover ego. And this is just one piece of the domino falling, because Tesla Model 3's delay will also affect the ambitious sales plan according to which Tesla Motors is aiming towards a sales rate of 500,000 electric vehicles a year by 2020.

Who knows, maybe the delay comes from the decision of building the Model 3 as a crossover as well as a sedan, but to be honest, the car has been plagued by delays ever since we first found out about it.

One thing is sure, though: potential buyers will either wait for the Model 3 to emerge, but that's unlikely if you ask us, or they will choose the likes of Chevrolet Bolt or the new Nissan LEAF.
