There's a golden rule when dealing with buyers, and it applies to every area you can think of, not just the automotive world: don't promise something you can't deliver. Which is what Tesla just did.
In case you're a Tesla Model S owner or just a supporter and admirer of Elon Musk's car brand, the term 'premium center console' is not Chinese to you. However, one Model S owner finds out the hard way how does it feel when carmakers fail to deliver what they promised.

According to Teslarati, after ordering his Tesla Model S in March 2014, the fresh owner we started telling you about reserved a Tesla Premium Center Console with the Obeche Wood Matte Décor to match his car's interior trim. Nothing out of the ordinary so far.

Initially, Tesla came back with an answer saying 'the console will be available to those recently added to the list in August [2014].' However, this is where the storyline changes.

Two months later, Tesla announced they 'have added improved parts to the center console. The updated estimate for resuming the shipping of the consoles is currently slated for early June.' Add two more months to the timeline and on August 1, Tesla makes the following statement: 'center consoles in other décor finishes will be available in limited quantities starting early 2015.'

But they weren't because on January 2, 2015 Tesla Motors explained the console will be available until spring 2015. However, Tesla's latest response on May 19 concluded that they 'have made the difficult decision to offer only the Piano Black Front Center Consoles on Model S.'

There's not really much to say about the incident which most likely affected other customers. Do you happen to know similar cases?
