While the American branch of Suzuki may have gone bust, and is now concentrating on the sale of motorbikes, ATVs and marine vehicles, the Japanese manufacturer will continue car sales in Canada. Speaking to The Globe and Mail, Bill Porter, of Suzuki Canada confirmed the information.
“Mid-sized vehicles represent a bigger segment of the U.S. market than the Canadian market, which, because of higher gas prices than the United States, is more skewed to the smaller vehicles Suzuki produces [. . .] The product mix is very different [. . .] We’ll continue to operate in the usual manner,” said Porter in a telephone interview.
The Canadian range of cars is comprised of the SX4, Kizashi and Grand Vitara, with the first being by far the best seller, primarily due to the fact that it is the cheapest crossover in the country, starting at $20,795 in all-wheel drive guise, while a front-wheel drive variant starts at $15,495, a price with which it encroaches on supermini teritory.
