Suzuki Swift Receives Two Scottish Car of the Year Awards

The new Suzuki Swift, which was launched on the UK market two months ago, has been awarded the “Best Small Car” by the Association of Scottish Motoring Writers and has received the “Safety” Award at the Annual Scottish Car of the Year Awards.

The vehicle was evaluated by a panel of 20 members of the Association, receiving the highest score in the “Small Car” segment and achieving the first award for Suzuki in the 12 year history of the event.

Buyers now demand from small cars the level of comfort, quality, refinement and safety once only found in executive cars. The Suzuki Swift achieves this with a sense of style and a careful eye on pricing. As a result it marks the first ever SCOTY award for Suzuki and shows how far the brand has come since our inaugural awards in 1998,” said John Murdoch, President of the ASMW.

In addition to that, the new Swift also claimed the top spot in the “Safety” category, thanks to its equipment list that includes seven airbags, ESP and to a Five star NCAP rating.

Turn back the clock 20 years or so and safety features like multiple airbags and ABS were reserved exclusively for top-end vehicles with a premium price tag. Today the motoring public expects them on even the most affordable products and manufacturers strive to achieve five-star Euro NCAP recognition. The Suzuki Swift sets new standards in the hunt for safer motoring and as a result is the inaugural winner of our Safety accolade,” the executive added.
