Suzuki Hayabusa to Tap into the 1,500cc Territory?

New Hayabusa rendering 1 photo

No news has transpired from behind the sealed doors of Hamamatsu, but the imagination of certain Japanese guys is running wild, to say the least. A new rendering bearing the mark of the Japanese magazine Young Machine surfaced, and this time it is a Hayabusa.
Young Machine's digital manipulation shows a Suzuki GSX-1300R that has almost nothing to do with the current Hayabusa. The side fairing vent is the only thing that reminds us of the actual Busa, but this is pretty much all there is to this rendering.

Instead, the modeled Hayabusa makes a very strong reference to the GSX Concept we showed you only days ago. Some of the lines are identical, and it's not hard at all to figure out that Young Machine used the Concept as the main structure for their own ideas.

The front cowl is identical, and so are the two front intakes and the headlight. Speaking of the headlight, we totally loved the unibrow-style daytime riding LED light, even though overall, the rendering leaves us unimpressed.

A 1,500cc Hayabusa?

In a way, it harks back to the DRLs of the modern EBR machines, or the dual eyebrows of the R1. The design changes proposed by Young Machine are a tad on the radical side, but the last years taught us to expect the unexpected, and even the Spanish Inquisition.

The most intriguing detail Young Machine delivers is the 1500 figure. It may indicate that Suzuki could plan to upgrade the engine of this machine by adding to the displacement, and inherently, to the peak power.

So far, Kawasaki ZZR-1400 is the biggest rival of the Busa, at least in drag races, so Hamamatsu might be indeed thinking of adding some extra edge to the GSX-1300R. If Suzuki wants to put "1500" on the Busa, we guess that at least extra 130cc are needed over the bike's current 1,340cc displacement.

This might command a new, bigger power plant, chassis revisions and a whole new set of changes for the entire bike. If Suzuki was up to such a move, it's almost impossible to have done so without the spies in the media/industry learning something, anything.

We'll be all eyes for anything in this direction at the Tokyo Motor Show later this month.
