We were telling you last week the Super Trofeo will make its first street racing appearance the past weekend, and so it did, quite successfully. Jens Klingmann of Lamborghini Munchen Team Holzer secured three wins this weekend at the second Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo race, which took place at Norisring, Germany.
After setting a fastest lap of 51.535 seconds, Klingmann qualified on pole for round four of the Super Trofeo series. Bonaldi Motorsport’s Davide Amaduzzi secured the front row position alongside Klingmann with a best qualifying time of 51.778 seconds. Behind, Petri Corse’s Fabio Babini set the third fastest time.
“The Holzer team gave me a good car and we were P2 in practice this morning, so I’m very satisfied with the way things are going,” said Klingmann. “We just pushed hard in the last 10 minutes, and that was it. I was a bit lucky because for the last three laps there was a yellow flag, so nobody else could try to improve their time.”
Klingmann also secured the win in round four, with Jarek Janis on second, and Amaduzzi on third. Round five ended with Klingmann claiming his second victory of the weekend.
His closest rival, the no. 69 Bonaldi Motorsport, dropped to the back of the field after an extended pit stop, allowing Janis to secure a second-place finish and van de Zwaan on the last podium position.
Round six and final race saw Klingmann complete his hattrick of victories, though he entered the first corner side-by-side with Janis, which finished second....again.
Lamborghini’s Director of Brand and Design, Manfred Fitzgerald, said: “The atmosphere this race weekend has been outstanding. Once again we’ve seen fantastically close competition from drivers of mixed abilities, demonstrating that the series’ format is something that allows everyone to be competitive."
“Having a young pilot like Klingmann do so well is extremely exciting to see, as it illustrates the driveability of the Super Trofeo race car,” added Fitzgerald.
